Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • Looking up with a grateful smile, Julian spoke a quick thanks to the senior before finishing up the problem he had been working on. That......had taken way too much effort for his liking. It wasn't like he was even going to use the stuff later on.....well where he was planning on going anyway. Math never seemed to be anyone's strong suit, unless they were totally serious about making it their life.
"You excited for that improv stuff were supposed to be doing?" Julian asked then. He was curious. The consensus he got was that it was split halfway: some were totally terrified of screwing up while doing something right off the bat, and the rest enjoyed the thrill. Julian fell into the later.

Chace crossed his arms again, looking around and thinking to himself. He began to wonder what time it was. Reaching in his pocket he swiftly checked his phone. They still had a bit of time. Stuffing it back in his pocket Chace looked at Julian again as he spoke, asking about improv. This brought a smirk to his face. It had been one of his favorites exercises in drama other than the scenes. But improv was all right off your head - wasn't planned. To tell the truth he couldn't wait. "Yea, improv is probably the best part of drama... for me anyway." He scoffed slightly before continuing, "What do you think?"

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • As Chace went to check his phone, Julian gave a him a curious look, wondering if he had lost track of time like he usually did and had to make a sprint to his next class. He really hoped not. "What time is it?" Well it couldn't hurt to ask, just to be safe.
As he waited for the senior to answer, Julian spotted a group of girls that had asked him out to lunch a couple days prior pass by their table, and he took the silent opportunity to smile and wink at them, setting the group into a fit of giggles as they walked on. He couldn't help himself. And what else was he going to use the break for? Homework? He scoffed at the thought.
Returning his attention to Chace he grinned with confidence. "Bring it on is what I say." He found that scripted stuff lot its luster after a while. Making it up as you went along and playing off of others was way more entertaining. And besides, life wasn't scripted, so why should this? Ultimately he did his best under pressure, or at least thinking quick on his feet. • • • • • • • • • • •

Chace looked up at Julian. "Only twenty more minutes." Chace answered softly. Shaking his head at the junior Chace was able to check his phone again to be sure. He had gotten a text so he quickly replied before slipping his phone back into his jean pocket.
Chace scoffed and grinned back, nodding his head. "Sounds like you're ready." He flicked a hand as a couple guys from his basketball team walked by behind the junior. They acknowledged him back quietly before moving on. He shifted his focus back to Julian adding, "I think it'll be fun. Gotta be quick on your feet." He smirked and raised his eyebrows, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he sat.

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • Frowning, Julian shook his head in distaste, almost wanting to reach for and check his own phone as if by some miracle Chace had been wrong about the time. "Ah, that's not nearly enough......why doesn't time go by this fast when you're in class and actually want it to speed up...." he complained with distaste. "Stupid phsyics," he muttered under his breath. After his quick interaction with the ladies, Julian looked back to see Chace shaking his head, and in return Julian smiled somewhat sheepish but also in a way that had a sort of pride to it. "Jealous?" he joked, though he knew the answer would definitely be no. What did he have over the senior? Absolutely nothing.
"Well technically speaking you can't 'be ready'," he made quotation marks with his fingers, returning his smirk. "But at least I'm not dreading it like some of the other guys......they looked like they were about to faint...." he trailed off. Maybe he was exaggerating a little (alright a lot), but for people who were so used to being in the spotlight he had been surprised that they had all been so unnerved by the prospect of improvising and working on the spot. • • • • • • • • • • •

"I know right! Chace said agreeing fully. It was true and he had always noticed and took note of it. Wasn't fair, or right in his mind. He shook his head a chuckled to himself before Julian pulled his attention back. "Jealous? Highly negative." Chace gave him a smile and shrug. He really wasn't, only found it amusing. He used to be all flirt but not as much as this junior had been. Chace had his phase of many girlfriends but then he came to senior year and had big choices to make.
Chace nodded in agreement. "Oh yea, huh. True that. But you're right, there are some dreading the day." He shook his head a bit before continuing. "People get pretty nervous and self-conscious about improv. That's sometimes the reason, besides being able to think quick, that gets in their way of being, well, good I guess." The junior probably knew all of this. Chace tended to do that, state things people normally knew for quite some time but sometimes he couldn't help it.

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • "Oooh, getting all sciency on me now, are we?" Julian joked again. To him, 'highly negative' sounded pretty official. Though then again, he seemed to think in pretty different ways. His flirting though, was something you could say was a terrible, terrible bad habit to have, one equivalent to biting your nails, except it affected other people. He hadn't used to be like that. He had picked it up, and now he couldn't seem to stop. It made things easier for him, he guessed, which is why he seemed to be addicted to it. Though out loud to someone else, or even upfront in his own thoughts, he never seemed to admit it.
Not minding the obvious points Chace was making, Julian just listened. It seemed obvious to those that were less scared of improv, it seemed to him, but he guessed for those that actually had the phobia it was like someone just went Dr. Phil on them.
"Some are calling it Doomsday," Julian chuckled, finding the nickname rather amusing. Sure there could have been many other references that they could have used to mark the date, but something as dramatic as this?....Well they were all drama kids for a reason. "Hm, I think they're being a bit hard on themselves, don't you?" Sure, it could be a stressful situation, if that's what you made it out to be. But it seemed silly for something that was meant to just let people go with the flow. "Besides, it's a challenge......" he smiled. "Though I guess people are afraid of seeing how far they can go." • • • • • • • • • • •

Chace scoffed at the word sciency. He never meant to be so official, but for him it was just intellectual. "Sure, if that's what you would call it," he shrugged smirking a bit. He listened as Julian gave his thoughts. The thought of people actually calling it Doomsday sounded ridiculous to Chace. He chuckled and shook his head. It was a little over the top for improv, but some people have their likes and dislikes, and many were different. "I agree, a little over the to there, but that's drama kids. But seeing how far you can go's the best part." Chace replied smiling. "Fun to watch anyway." Watching had to be just as fun and amusing as being in the scene itself. "But then again, we all have our differences..." Chace trailed off.

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • Shrugging simply at Chace's reply, Julian directed his attention once more to see if he could actually answer some of those problems that were staring coldly back at him from the clean sheet of paper. Maybe sciency wasn't the word, or even one in existence but it had been the first thing that came to mind. Oh well, it probably got across what it needed to anyway.
Smirking up at the senior with a shake of his head, Julian absentmindedly let his pencil begin to doodle coming out of the numbers he had written. And this was why he was an artist and not a mathematician. "At least it makes sense in context for them.....and I would think that some would tend to disagree with you.....though it's strange.....it's not for any marks.....more like free practice if you ask me...." he trailed off and shrugged again. If you tested yourself in drama club you were basically guaranteed better marks in the actual class. Though he guessed it was supposed to be the distressful part of the subject, so people didn't want to add that factor in by attempting improv.
"You're telling me," Julian grinned. Some of the stuff he had seen previously was hilarious or damn right amazing for people at their level who were just going off the top of their heads. The reactions were the fun part, either to what you did, or just watching the scene unfold. Shrugging with a small sigh on his part about what Chace said last, Julian looked down with a frown at his now doodle filled margin before speaking. "It's just a tad unfortunate, if you ask me...." • • • • • • • • • • •

Chace yawned yet again as the junior went back to his work. He thought of asking him if he needed help, which maybe he did, although it seemed as if he were avoiding it. Chace didn't ask however, only rubbed his eyes of the sleepiness and laid his forearms on the table in front of him. Chace listened as Julian went on. It made sense, and Chace hadn't really thought of it that way. It was true, at least they got and understood what improv was or how to do it. So that counts just as much as doing it correctly. Which was better, understanding the concept or doing it well? Chace couldn't really put a finger on it but it was a logical question.
"You gotta point there," Chace replied softly, nodding his head slightly. He grabbed his pencil and started flipping it over and over in his hand. It was quite amusing, in fact. So he kept on doing it to fill the boredom of just sitting there procrastinating his homework. He chuckled a bit as the junior agreed with him. You couldn't deny that it was entertaining, it had to be.
Chace's brows furrowed as he thought of his comment. "Well, in some cases but a lot of things would not have been done if we were all somewhat the same. Differences cause interest..." Chace trailed off, still playing around with his pencil. He had hoped what he said made some sense, it was off the top of his head and he believed it.

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • Noting the yawn, even though Julian had gone back to doodling/ solving math problems he smiled to himself before speaking, though still keeping his eyes on his paper, not looking up at the senior. "That coffee break is starting to look better and better isn't it?" He didn't blame him though. He could probably use one himself right about now. The only real thing that was keeping him chained instead of going to get one was his annoying homework.
As Chace started to play with his pencil, Julian looked up, distracted for a moment, before looking at his own page again. It seemed as if procrastination was a virus in the library, which was ironic for what it actually stood for. And fiddling with pencils was a popular default. Out of the corner of his eye he could spot at least five other students who were doing the same thing at that moment.
He gave a shy, sheepish smile at a girl who had caught him looking around for a moment before looking back at the senior, thinking over what he said for a moment. It did make sense, but this was where Julian and Chace differed. "But difference isn't the problem.....I don't think.......well not unless that difference is stopping you from doing anything at all....then what's the point in having it. Seems self-defeating...." he trailed off with another shrug. He was all for differences in people. It was the spice of life. But the only problem was was when people didn't show it.

Chace smirked and nodded his head, “Yea actually.” He looked around at some others who were just fooling around for the time remaining. He looked back at the desk trying to decided if he should just go back and finish those two haunting problems. Nah..
Chace listened to the junior carefully, the pencil in his hand flipping over and over a bit slower. It made sense, for sure, it had been true. But, he wasn't sure what he might have been getting at before about differences being a problem, or a slight problem. And now he didn't think so. Chace thought a moment on what Julian had said before speaking again. “Of course, but you can't do anything about that difference if it's stopping you. You'll always have it unless you go against it by hiding it.... if that makes sense. And it's not necessarily a difference in this case I guess.... more of a mind over matter type of thing. That's what's self-defeating.” Chace went back to flipping his pencil over at the same kind of rhythm he had been keeping after thinking over what he had said. It sort of came all together in his head as he said it.

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • Julian thought for a while before he answered this time, seeming to busy himself with his homework while he tried to get his thoughts together, contemplating the idea. It wasn't often he got into long well thought out conversations like these. To be honest, it was kind of nice and a bit of a refresher.
"Mind over matter huh....?" he let the idea sit in the air for a couple more minutes before nodding. "Yeah I guess you're right." That's what he had been thinking in a sense at least. "Hiding it isn't healthy though, I don't think...." he said with a shrug. He'd know all about the habit by now, and it's effects, none of which were too good for him or anyone for that matter.
Looking away for a moment to the window and to the outside, catching a glimpse of the courtyard, Julian sighed under his breath before looking up to the ceiling, seeming totally defeated for a moment. "So....." he started before glancing at the senior. "It depends on the kind of difference.....is what were saying here?" If it tended to head to the mind over matter category he guessed that's where the problem lay. • • • • • • • • • • •

Chace stretched out his neck by rolling his head around. That had always been where his stress went, stretching out wasn't too bad of an idea. He waited and as he let the pencil press against his finger, still flipping around in his hand. Man was he bored. There wasn't too much time left and he wanted to hear what the junior had left to say of the matter.
He listened, staring at the table as he spoke. "No, I don't think it is either, but some people don't care." He had known so many people, girls especially, that would try so hard to be something they weren't or even hide the littlest things. Chace thought, it's their choice so give them the freedom, although he was mostly into himself. Which sometimes didn't come off well.
Chace opened his mouth slightly before responding. He had to really think back before answering. He tilted his head in an iffy kind of way. "Yea... I guess so..." He wasn't too sure but maybe that was where it had lain. After all the kind of difference sorted out in the mind of matter, whether they chose that, or didn't cause you can't exactly, or not... Chace just shrugged.

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • After a couple more minutes of working, in which Julian made a bit of progress (something to be proud of in his state, he thought) he craned his neck, leaning back in his chair, around the bookshelves to look at the clock in the front of the library. He was too lazy to look at his own phone, and didn't want to bother Chace with the time again, though he was probably keeping a close eye on it.
He frowned. The time they had left had reduced to almost nothing, and he wasn't looking forward to his next class. Chemistry, blech. He subconciously made a face of distaste. At least he had his pretty lab partner to keep him somewhat entertained and focused, but that still didn't take much away from the boring course.
Rubbing a hand on his neck after straining it for so long, he took a look at the senior. "Don't care.......or can't help it," Julian replied softly, biting his lip as he looked down as if busy with his homework again. It bothered him sometimes when people totally assumed everyone had complete control over their actions and thoughts and thought about it before they did acted at all times. Life wasn't that easy, and not nearly as simple to chart it out this way. Even so, the things people did hide could start off as voluntary, but become so ingrained it became near subconcious habit. Like what had happened to himself.
