School's been great and Chace was loving it. His last year at a great preparatory without parents and all. Chace was enjoying every minute as a senior. He was slumped over in a chair at a round table in the library working on some intense homework. Chace focused hard on finishing his pre-calculus homework before the next period. He knew it well but he was stuck on one problem and it bothered him more than ever.
The library was good for Chace, he was able to block out any distractions, if any, and he liked the quietness for once. He was used to his loud buddies in basketball and the outgoing drama peeps. Chace was ready to get out of high school though he wanted to let his senior year last. His mind trailed off as he stared at his work. He sat down his pencil and looked around the library leaning back in his chair.
Chace began to get bored with the homework and needed a distraction. The conflict of his uninterested mind in school at the moment and the need to finish the work was annoying Chace. He had wasted ten minutes just looking around and staring at his homework. He picked up his pencil and started to work on his pre-calc again with his other hand on his knee. He tried to focus again working on the same problem he had been for the past fifteen minutes.

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • Julian was seated across from Chace, though unlike the senior student, he had long abandoned the math homework that was sitting forlornly by his arm, and rather choosing to focus on drawing. Drawing what you may ask? Well.....maybe flirting is more the proper term here than drawing, which always trumped homework.
On the piece of paper in front of Julian was a very realistic sketch of the pretty girl sitting a couple seats away who was looking at him, giggling and blushing as he winked at her and showed her what he was up to. He knew he probably should be doing homework, but his sister wasn't around to keep him in line. Which basically meant he could get as distracted and unfocused as a loose canon. Though he'd probably end up finishing it when he was at home, when she could get on his case about it.
He guessed him and libraries didn't mesh to well, except for drawing/flirting part. And even then they still somehow managed to suck the life out of him. Sighing under his breath, he gave his actual homework a wary glance as if it was going to yell at him for ignoring it, before picking up his pencil and putting his head in his palm, trying his hardest to care about math; his most hated enemy. Needless to say it wasn't working out so well.

Chace was about to completely give up on the math homework. Hem knew he had to finish it but at this point. He was pretty exhausted considering the amount of sleep he got the other night. So working wasn't the easiest thing to do. Looking up from the book and crossing his ankles in front of him, he looked at the junior across from him. Glancing around at the rest of the library he didn't see anyone he really wanted to speak to.
Chace closed his book and noticed the junior drawing instead of working. He remembered when he did that all the time, during his first couple years of high school however, just to look like he was working. Although, this kid seemed to be doing it for another. Obviously avoiding homework, which Chace could fully understand at the moment. Chace spotted a girl at another table, smiling and blushing, looking at the kid. This brought a smirk to his face. Chace looked straight at the junior sitting across from him and quietly said, "Havin' fun there?" He said this with a smile as he was putting away his homework.

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • Julian's head snapped up to look at the senior who had addressed him, just as he was really about to start working out the dreaded math problem. He almost looked as if he were a kid up to no good, and just got caught for it; wide eyed, like a dear in headlights. He couldn't help it. It was a visceral reaction, though the one who pointed out his actions was usually his sister. Though usually it didn't bother him. Relaxing after a moment, leaning back into his seat, he smiled back at Chace. "Definitely," he quietly replied back, as the girl who he had been flirting with prior looked away back at her work, seeing that Julian was now busy with someone else. "Much more entertaining than anything else you could possibly do here," he added, glancing at the girl for a moment.
Catching a glimpse at his papers, he looked up at Chace again with a wry smile. "Guess you're having as much luck getting things done like everyone else here," he said softly, looking at his own homework with distaste before returning his gaze to the senior.

Chace raised his eyebrows as the junior's head shot up. Shaking his head and smiling, Chace leaned back in his chair, watching Julian glance at the girl. “Obviously.” Chace said to him. He looked down at the homework the junior had been “working” on, then back at him. It humored Chace that he had now begun looking at it. Can't blame him though, school sure was boring at times. However for Chace, he didn't mind it all that much as some do. He was going to college for academics anyway. He thought he'd decide later on just exactly what he was interested in. In high school you don't get too much exposure to figure things like that out.
The guy spoke again, noticing Chace's disinterest in homework. “Yea, surprisingly.” He scoffed softly and glanced around the library crossing his arms. Watching behind him as someone passed by he looked back to the junior across from him. “I'd just rather go take a nap now.” Chace shook his head and asked, “And it looks like you're doing no better.”

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • Julian grinned sheepishly. He probably was stating the obvious, not making much for great conversation. Captain obvious not to the rescue! But to be fair, what little homework he had actually done had sucked all non-linear thought out of his head into the horrid dark abyss that was numbers. Frowning for a moment, he scribbled some messy numbers on his page before fidgeting with his pencil, turning it over in his hand, listening to the senior.
With a low chuckle, Julian shook his head. "By all means, go enjoy dreamland......" he replied, not wanting to keep him there unnecessarily, though longing for it himself a bit. Chace was right, he was far from doing any better than him. In fact, a yawn seemed to wash over him right then, and covering his mouth to muffle it with one hand and stretching with the other, he sighed softly before placing his head in his palm. "Hm, I could have never imagined what gave it away...." he replied quietly, sarcasm lacing his voice with a grin on his lips.

Chace watched as the junior jotted down something on his paper. He placed his elbows on the table, going through his hair with his hands. He yawned almost right after Julian had. “I wish. Can't really, gotta look like I'm doing something before the next period.”
His eyes searched the library again. It was all there was to do. Stare around and watch others work on their homework. Chace shook his head. Yup, no hope in getting his homework done. He thought he mind as well speak to junior across from him. They were having the same problem anyway. “Hm, I don't know,” he sarcastically said back with a smile on his face.

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • Julian gave the senior a questioning look, putting down his pencil on the table. "Why's that?......It's not like anyone is here to watch that your actually working, unlike in class......well except for her," he whispered as he watched the librarian pass strict looks over the students who were 'cluttering' her library. He was silent until she disappeared around another row of bookshelves. "But all she really cares about is silence.....and return dates," he shrugged, absentmindedly picking up his pencil and doodling on the back side of what should've been his homework. Oh well, it wasn't like he had much on it to begin with anyway.
Smiling a bit, Julian looked up from his doodles when he saw Chace yawn. "You look like you could use a pick me up." And by pick me up he meant coffee, the lifesaver. Without it he'd probably be asleep in almost every class.

Chace crossed his arms, not voicing a word or expression as the librarian passed. He listened as the junior spoke. "True." He shrugged, trying to decide to keep working or not. Well, what was the point then. There had only been a couple problems left, it wouldn't hurt anyone not getting those done. Plus, he was a senior now, he had most his credits and a good start in the few classes he had. He looked at the junior again. Junior year was the roughest and was probably the funnest for Chace. He shook his head absently, and noticed Julian drawing again. He scoffed sort of to himself. If only I could draw to waste time. Which he couldn't, it never was something he'd resort to when bored in class. He mostly likely just stare into space or something.
After he had yawned, the junior suggested a pick up. All Chace could think of was Yes! "Hah, yea. But mostly a break." He chuckled deeply, "And we're only two weeks in. Talk about senoritas."

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • "I'd say the two go hand in hand, no?" Julian looked up again at the senior with a bit of a smile. Leaning back in his chair, stretching his arms again he crossed them over his chest while listening to Chace. "It could always be worse," Julian replied airily, almost in a sing-song sort of way. "Though, I feel for you, pre-calc looks like it's a pain....." he cringed inwardly with a frown on his face. If that's what it looked like to him now he could only imagine how horrid it would be when he was actually taking the class next year. He didn't know why he put himself through courses he didn't like and didn't have to take. It was probably by his sister's persuasion, like a whole bunch of other things he otherwise wouldn't usually do.

Chace nodded, Yeah, pre-calc is a pain in the-" He paused as the librarian began to walk by them again. A smirk crossed his face before he chuckled and continued once she was out of earshot. "You know." He looked down at the junior's math homework. He guessed he would be in algebra 2 by now. But, then again, everyone's different. For all he knew he could be in geometry. He doubted it. Chace thought it uninteresting talking about sleep and school. The two things teenagers only seemed to do.
Chace looked at the junior a little closer and noticed something. "Hey, your in drama right?" He knew he'd seen the kid somewhere. He hadn't always been to good at faces right off.

"Close one, nice," he grinned at Chace before looking over his shoulder to see the librarian scuttle away again. He watched a couple other students pass by, some that he had met before and gave them a curt wave and a smile as they passed, before addressing Chace's question. "Mhm, yeah w-" he was about to ask, but cut himself off from finishing his question, mentally facepalming. It was pretty dumb of him now that he recognized the senior from the drama club. He guessed he was so out of it or really not paying attention that he hadn't realized who he was. Trying to recall and grab the senior's name from his head, Julian took a few moments of silence before speaking again. "Chace, right?" He really hoped he got it right, otherwise he would look like a total idiot.

Chace thought as the junior thought. Probably both trying to figure out each others names. It was going to bother him forever, not remembering right off the bat. Although the junior beat him to it. Chace nodded his head, giving him a smile. "Yea. And..." He squinted his eyes a bit and raised his eyebrows raised. He knew it, he knew he did. The name finally came and Chace made a "aha!" kind of gesture with his hand. "Julian, isn't it?" He only hoped he was right, if not then he would feel like a failure as a senior, then again that's exaggerating a bit.

Cause you're halfway gone and I'm on my way But don't take too long cause I'm halfway gone • • • • • • • • • • • Smiling with a soft laugh, Julian nodded, feeling relieved. That had been a close one. And Chace had gotten his own name right and didn't call him by his first name, so that was all he could really ask for. "Yep, that would be me." Now that they had the awkward name exchanges out of the way, Julian settled into his seat, crossing one leg over the other.
Most of the people in the drama club were really good, but as a senior, he guessed Chace had more experience. He stood out in some of the stuff he did, and was definitely charismatic, which was more than you could say for some people who were actually in the business. "You're good," Julian paid a compliment before flipping over his page and actually attempting to solve some of the beckoning problems. Well, maybe not beckoning in that sense but more like a gigantic thorn in his side.

Chace smiled when he had confirmed he was Julian. He nodded his head, glad to have the name pop into his head then and not way later. Now things really came back to him as he remembered this face. Drama club had always been fun, everyone involved were pretty cool and rather good in Chace's perspective. He sat back, relaxing a bit more than he had the whole time he had been in the library.
Chace raised his eyebrows when Julian had complimented him. He was surprised almost but he thought about it. Was he really that good in drama? He didn't find it his strongest suit but it was definitely something he had enjoyed. Maybe that's what showed. But it was a fact that many in the class were good. "Thanks. You're pretty good yourself."
