Jenna had somehow finished all her homework that afternoon in time for a little evening stoll on the beach. Sure, it was a weekday and there would be less people, but she didn't really care who was there. All day, she'd been thinking about the guy she'd met on the beach the other day. She just couldn't get the kid out of her head. Everytime she replayed the moment he fell in her mind, she couldn't help but laugh. She'd been replaying their whole encounter in her mind a lot since it happened. What had he said his name was? Oh wait, that's right, he hadn't. But he had told her he was a junior at Kingswood. She'd been on the look out for him since they met. She'd looked for him in all her classes. She'd looked for him at Starbucks in the morning (her new favorite stop). She'd looked for him at lunch. She'd even looked for him coming out of the boys dorms when she left the girls that morning. But all for nothing because she just couldn't find him.
Now, here she was, strolling on the beach as the sun made it's way down toward the horizon. It was going to be a beautiful sunset tonight, that's for sure. Jenna figured she'd stay out here long enough to watch it. In the back of her mind, she kind of hoped the mysterious boy would be out here today. And she still wondered if he was the voice she'd heard singing with her before he appeared. If he was, he hadn't mentioned it. Though, that was understandable, Jenna hadn't mentioned it either. She had figured it would've been an odd question to ask a stranger. Besides, she might've scared him away had she said something about it. Either way, she was back on the lovely beach across the street from Kingswood's campus, hoping she would see someone she'd talked to once for five minutes.
Without noticing it, Jenna was walking toward the rock she'd sat on the last time she was out here. She realized as she approaced it, though, that it was already taken. A group of a few small children were playing on it today. She wasn't about to try to make them move and reclaim her rock so she simply continued walking with a smile on her face. Children always made Jenna smile and she'd always been good with kids. Maybe it was because she had grown up with a younger brother. Who knows? But for some reason, children always took a liking to Jenna and she knew how to handle them.
As she walked, Jenna began humming to herself. It was something she did a lot, as you can probably tell. When she has a song stuck in her head, she can't help but let it out, which is exactly what she was doing at the moment. Walking and humming eventually led to a little head bobbing like people do when they're listening to music on an iPod. She probably looked a little ridiculuous, but she didn't care what anyone else thought. She was having a good time and that's all that mattered to her.

but doonie did share his name. it was jenna who didn't tell hers! everything's fine<3 [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i54.tinypic.com/2vafwqd.jpg), border: solid #ffffff 5px; width: 400px; height: 500px;] Wow, the past couple days have been beautiful. How did Doonie know? After he had to leave that girl on the beach, he had gone to lunch and lucky him, ate something that didn't agree with him. Not food poisoning, but he just felt awful. He'd spent the past couple days in the infirmary, trying to get his stomach under control. Even though he was sure he puked his guts out and was sure that the bad food was gone, it wasn't reacting well, so they made him stay and take medicine. They didn't find it serious enough to take him to the hospital, but had a doctor do a couple tests to see if it was a stomach bug. If it was, they didn't want him spreading it to other students, so they kept him locked up.
Back to the beautiful day thing. Even though he'd been stuck in a room, the window shades were kept open and the view was decent. He was able to watch the ocean and the sunset, it was the only thing that kept him sane while he was awake, since he didn't feel like doing his homework and couldn't do anything else. The staff didn't let anyone visit him, but he got a couple notes from some guys and a "get well" teddy bear from a girl who'd been crushing on him since freshman year. He knew about it, but she didn't know he knew. Doonie didn't like her much, otherwise they probably would be dating right now because he's such a chicken and she totally would've made the first move.
Also on his mind was that girl he'd left on the beach. He'd almost forgotten about her because of his barfing state, but when he began to feel better midday today she was the only thing on his mind. She was so pretty. Her hair looked flawless and her face was just adorable. Doonie wished he could've stayed longer and chatted, and had more time to look at her beautiful face and check her out. Oh, and listen to her accent. It was super cute. Two minutes just wasn't enough for him. The thing was, he never caught her name. It would be a task trying to find her amongst students, even though it was kind of a small school it wasn't small enough that you knew and saw everyone. It would be even more difficult if she didn't board at Kingswood. She might go there but once the day's over she might go straight home. He didn't know.
It was probably close to four o'clock when the nurse checked on him. Doonie explained how he was feeling better, and was able to keep both his breakfast and lunch from today down with no troubles. She was relieved to hear it, and checked him out. Doonie now was free to go, and as soon as he was out the door, he shouted, "WOOHOO!" raising the bear above his head feeling all-powerful. He headed back to his dorm room to find it a mess unfortunately, but he shoved the bear in his closet, changed out of the clothes he was wearing, and decided to relax. Given, he had been laying down for the last however many hours, but it wasn't "relaxing", it was hoping he would feel better. That wasn't the same thing in his book. Even though he'd missed a day of lesson, he didn't bother to try and get some homework done, he moved his butt to the beach. The sand between the toes and the fresh air would be god for him, and hey, maybe he'd run into that girl again.
On the beach, Doonie was feeling better than ever. He was walking, nearly skipping down the shore line, so glad that he was up and moving, he could sing. In fact, that's what he did. Given, he wasn't the strongest singer, but he wasn't half bad. He honestly didn't care who heard, the gossip monsters could have a fan day for all he cared. Because that girl was on his mind, he began singing no song other than Rolling in the Deep. Oh yeah, they would really have a fanday with that one. The solo Doonie Peterson... singing Adele? What is going on in that kid's head! So he started singing the first verse, nearly skipping on the beach, running all over it, having a great time. There weren't very many people around since it was a weeknight. He'd returned to the spot that he'd been flying the kite, and that's when he saw her. Or, at least he thought he saw her. He saw a head of curly brown hair that he was pretty sure was the girl he'd met. Oh crap. Had she heard him singing? What if she didn't like it? Calm down Doonie, maybe she didn't hear you. Who am I kidding of course she did.

Jenna was strolling around, still humming without a care in the world. It was getting later and she still hadn't seen Doonie, the boy she had met on the beach just the other day. She wasn't all that concerned about it by now. She had been looking for him all day on the Kingswood campus and had yet to catch any sight of him, so she had pretty much given up on her search for this mysterious boy. Right now, all she cared about about was the gorgeous sunset that was occurring in front of her and the song she was singing in her head.
As she neared the end of the song, her pace slowed and she was surrounded with the calming sound of the waves crashing along the shore. She let out a contented sigh as she took in the peace and beauty of this moment. Somewhere off in the distance, Jenna thought she heard a male voice singing. She couldn't quite make out the words yet. Curious, she spun around on her heels and started walking toward the voice. Could it be the guy from the unplanned duet a few days before? It was a possibility, Jenna had to admit. How many people randomly walk on the beach and sing loud enough for others to hear? This was definitely the first Jenna had witnessed.
Walking closer, Jenna could finally see the outline of the singer, or the person she thought to be singing. A few more steps and she could see his face. Was she imagining things? He appeared to be the same guy, Doonie, that she had been thinking about nonstop for the past couple days. His tall, athletic build and messy brown hair were both new and familiar to her. She had only met the guy once, but he had been on her mind ever since then. As she got closer, she realized he was looking right at her and she lifted her gaze so their eyes met.
Picking up her pace ever so slightly, a smile crept onto her face. What was wrong with her? Why did she feel such a strong connection to this boy? She hadn't talked to this guy five minutes and he already consumed most of her thoughts for the past couple days. And now with this encounter, he was likely to never leave her brain again! His voice grew louder as she approached and she couldn't help but notice the beautiful way it was perfectly on pitch and seemed to liven the now deserted shore line surrounding them.
When she was within ten feet of him, she decided to speak up. "Hey, you're Doonie, right?" she called out. What was she saying? Of course he was Doonie! He had told her that the other day. Asking just made her sound like an idiot. However, she had already spoken and she couldn't take the words back now. Words are like a tube of toothpaste, her parents had always told her. You can always squeeze them out, but you can't put them back in. In any case, she decided to add to her question before he got a chance to answer. "I'm Jenna," she told him with a polite smile. "Sorry I didn't get a chance to introduce myself to you the other day." There, now maybe it wouldn't be so awkward. She didn't want him to think she had forgotten who he was or anything. There were a lot of things she wanted to ask him. Like why she hadn't seen him around the Kingswood campus since their brief encounter or why he had so suddenly run off afterwards, but she decided to let the conversation play out before she bombarded him with questions. Besides, she didn't even know this guy.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i54.tinypic.com/2vafwqd.jpg), border: solid #ffffff 5px; width: 400px; height: 500px;] Doonie was panic-stricken when she called out to him. 'Yep, she did hear me. Dammit. I hope I sounded good...' He hoped that this wouldn't be a horrible second impression. Considering how much she'd been on his mind, well, it'd be painful to let this one go. By the tone of her voice though, things were looking good. She didn't sound disgusted. This was a positive thing. And, she remembered his name! The girl remembered his name, even though it was such a short encounter. Given, Doonie wasn't the most common name around, he'd never even heard of another Doonie on the planet, so maybe it would stick better to someone else's head since it was a unique nickname. It would've been painfully embarrassing if she knew his real name. Leslie is not the kind of name you want a pretty girl to call you. Chances are, she'd laugh! That'd be the last thing he would want her to do. Maybe she wouldn't, but he could only imagine the ridicule.
"Yep that's me, Doonie Peterson," he said, putting a grin on his face. He was still tickled that she remembered. The girl had remained nameless- until now. "I'm Jenna," she said. Jenna. He said the name over and over again in his head. First, just the way she had said it, and then in his own little thought voice. Her voice, with her accent, then his voice. Jenna, Jenna, Jenna. He loved it. Simple two syllables, it wasn't too obscure, but it wasn't too common either. Doonie was so preoccupied with Jenna's name that it took him awhile to process the next part of her sentence. There was a bit of an awkward pause, but when he realized his small fluke, his eyes widened and he took a deep breath in. "Oh! No worries, I had to run. There wasn't much time for introductions." Doonie kind of kept on the grin he had but it probably looked more stupid than cute. Maybe stupid was cute. He didn't know these things, but wasn't really conscious of them either. Heck, Doonie was still focused on her name. Jenna. Why was he so freaking intrigued? Doonie, you do not know this girl. You JUST learned her name.
"You said you'd just moved here, right?" he asked her. Doonie recalled her telling him something about England and he was pretty sure something about moving, but he wasn't quite sure. It was quick, but Doonie felt confident in his memory. He was no superhuman that could remember every detail of every second of his life, heck no, but he's usually good with recent stuff, words, and faces. "How're you liking Kingswood?" Not many people say 'bad' to this question, for a boarding school, Kingswood was pretty relaxed with their rules. Well, not relaxed, but the students have a heck of a lot more freedom and get to run around town all the time. If you get caught doing anything just one step over the line though, you're at risk for expulsion because hey, they give you tons of freedom you should respect the rules they actually have. It's uncommon, but Doonie knows of a couple kids who've gotten the boot. They were being stupid though, and seriously needed to check out their priorities.
Doonie listened to her and began to form a fluent sentence in his head. He didn't want to sound stupid. That's happened too much around girls. Not. Cool. Doonie noticed that the sun was looking gorgeous in the sky, it wasn't late enough for sunset quite yet, but on the east horizon the sky was beginning to turn purple. Goodness, he sure loved nature. It was too bad that every day, people all around the world are destroying it. Doonie's no eco-freak, but he just finds it disappointing that kids still don't recycle their papers. Still listening and thinking up intelligent ways to respond to whatever she had coming for him, Doonie really took a look at Jenna. Not just a glance, or a scan up and down awk... a look. His blue eyes examined the way Jenna's hair fell down on her shoulders, how it looked flawless even on the beach. She looked at the shape of her eyes and how she formed her smile. Doonie definitely had some height on her, he's six foot four. She was probably around five five, five six, five seven area. She wasn't a shrimp, and he appreciated that. Doonie always felt a little uncomfortable around girls who were nearly as tall as he was. He thought it was great they were tall, it's just he's used to being so much bigger. As for the girls who weren't even five feet, he didn't make fun of them, no, but it felt like he was around kids... Ech. Doonie was just glad he wasn't seven feet tall.

It took Jenna a few moments to process all that was going on. She still couldn't get over the fact that she had finally found this guy who had captured her full attention a few days ago and hadn't left her mind since. And now she was getting another conversation with him - a conversation she wasn't about to let slip through her fingers. One wrong move and she could lose her chance at getting to know this intriguing boy and she definitely didn't want that to happen. With this in mind, she focused her attention on Doonie and everything he was saying. Jenna was determined not to let the conversation get awkward. An awkward conversation equals a forgettable conversation. It's also not the best way to start off a friendship.
As Doonie apologized for having to leave so suddenly during their last conversation, Jenna couldn't help but notice the slightly awkward grin that covered his face. However stupid it might have appeared to someone else, this girl seemed to find it cute. She didn't know why. Heck, there were a lot of things she couldn't explain about herself. But there was just something about this boy. His adorable smile and boyish good looks attracted her and she even seemed to like the awkward face he was making right now. It was while she was thinking about his cute smile that she realized he had asked her a question. Remembering her determination from earlier, she tried to cover up the almost-awkward pause by brushing her hair out of her face.
"Yeah, I just moved her a couple weeks ago," she told him with a slight shrug in answer to his first question. "Kingswood is great! The people all seem so nice so far and there are so many opportunities for the students! It's a beautiful campus as well. I love being so close to the beach." There was no hesitation before answering this question. It was something she had been asked a lot in the past few days. All of her teachers had asked the exact same thing at least once and had promised to answer any questions she might have regarding the school. Even a few of her new friends had asked her what she thought of this prestigious academy. Needless to say, she was prepared in her answer to this question. What she hadn't told most people when answering this question was how homesick she was. Sure, Kingswood was great. The teachers and students were all nice and seemed eager to help her in any way possible. But something inside her wished she had her best friends here at her side, taking on this new adventure together. Instead, they were thousands of miles away in England. She hadn't even told her parents how badly she longed for them. Jenna definitely hadn't expected to miss her home this much when she left. She knew it would be sad to leave all her friends behind, but she figured she would find someone to fill their void pretty easily, which she hadn't been able to do yet. Who knows, though, maybe this boy standing in front of her would do just that. (;
For a moment, Jenna stared out at the gorgeous horizon and could just make out the colors beginning to appear as the sun started setting. She envied anyone who grew up here and got to experience this picturesque moment daily. "Are you from around here or are you just here for school?" As she spoke, she returned her gaze to Doonie, making sure to make eye contact as he answered her. That was the number one sign of a good listener, afterall. In order to do so, however, she had to tilt her head up slightly since he was so tall. She had always been kind of jealous of tall people. Not that she was unhappy with her average size, though. It's just that she had always envied all those girls with long, skinny legs who made the most beautiful models. And tall guys weren't bad either. They were usually the cute ones. No girl wants to date a short, scrawny, little shrimp. Doonie was definitely not a shrimp. He was tall, handsome, and muscular - a few of the things she looked for in the appearance of a guy.
