APPEARANCE Ryann is exactly 5 foot, 6 inches. She weighs about 112 pounds and is very skinny. Other than her ears, she has no piercings, nor does she have any tattoos, though she would like to get her belly button pierced.
PERSONALITY Ryann is simply your typical prep school gal. She makes straight A's, usually A+'s, goes to the beach every chance she gets, wears only name brand clothes, and tends to act slightly stuck up. But then, who at KWP doesn't? Ryann tries her absolute best to be down to earth, but her mind just keeps her up in the clouds. She has a very vivid imagination and eccentric personality when she gets riled up about something. She's one of those people who talks with their hands almost all the time without knowing it. Ryann is also a very determined person. When she sets her mind to something, she won't stop until it gets done. And there's nothing you can do to stop her. At first, Ryann may be a little shy, but she's really not. She only acts that way around people she doesn't know. She can be a little closed off sometimes. Only her best of friends can get her to talk when she gets like this. It usually happens when something important has taken place or is about to take place. Ryann is pretty easy to get along with as long as you don't start off on the wrong foot. She's very unforgiving. This kind of goes back to the whole determined thing. Once she has an opinion of someone, whether it's true or not, that is her opinion. And it's very hard to change. Most people would consider Ryann friendly. She is nice to everyone until you give her a reason not to be. She also tries her best to have good manners and be as generous as possible, but going to a prep school, she tends to be slightly selfish. Academics would have to be Ryann's strong-point. People say she's a genious. That's how she got in to KWP - scholarships. And that's how she plans to get to college as well. She's not the most athletic girl, but she does play softball. But Ryann is the girl who is always at the top of the class. She takes the hardest classes and aces them like it's nothing to her. In her free time, Ryann really enjoys photography and filmography. She's not one of the girls who wants to be center stage. No, she'd rather be behind the camera. She would love to be a producer/director when she grows up, but her mom wants her to be a doctor.
HISTORY When Ryann was four years old, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Her family, espcially her father, was very shocked and had a hard time dealing with the change at first. Instead of coming together and growing closer, they slowly started drifting apart. Ryann's dad would come home later and later from work until sometimes he just wouldn't come home at all and they wouldn't hear from him for days. Her mother was always good to her, as her father had also had diabetes and she knew how to take care of a diabetic patient. But her father just couldn't get the hang of it. He couldn't believe his baby girl had to deal with such a horrible disease and he took out his anger on his family. For the next few years, this was Ryann's home life. Her father constantly in and out of her life and her mother doing her very best to put food on the table and pay the bills for the family of five (Ryann, her mom, her dad, and her two older brothers, Cody and Connor).
After Ryann's eighth birthday, her dad finally realized how much of a strain he was putting on his family. He came crawling back, begging to be a part of his children's lives again. But by now, Ryann's mom, Sherri, had had enough of him and his lies and excuses. She wouldn't allow him to see Ryann or her brothers and sent him away. Throughout the next six months, he kept calling and visiting, but every time, Sherri shut him out. Ryann, Connor, and Cody had basically moved on with their lives. They stayed very close to each other. So close they could tell each other almost everything. Their dad was more of a "stop in for birthdays and Christmas" kind of guy and it was normal for them not to see him. Sherri filed for divorce in November of that year and by February of the next they were no longer married. Sherri obtained custody of the children, but Bryon (her dad) had visiting rights. His not being there became normal for her and her brothers and they didn't really mind it. In fact, they were glad he wasn't there because he was always in a bad mood and brought the rest of them down.
Growing up, Ryann learned that her diabetes was rare, but she also learned that living with it wasn't that difficult. And new medical technology was constantly coming out. She's always had hope that a cure for diabetes will come out some day, but until then, she's content with the treatment she currently uses. Yeah, the needles are annoying sometimes, but overall it's not that bad.
WHY KWP? Ryann's mom wanted her to attend Kingswood Prep because of it's academic advantages. Ryann is very academically gifted and her mom decided it would be best if she and her brothers went to a school that made it easier to obtain college scholarships or simply get in to college.
